  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 burger buns
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup grated cucumber, squeezed to remove excess liquid
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • Lettuce leaves optional
  • Tomato slices optional
  • Red onion slices optional

Equipment

  • Food Processor
  • Medium bowl
  • large skillet
  • spatula
  • Grater
  • Clean Kitchen Towel
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • knife
  • cutting board

Method

  1. Prepare the Tzatziki Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber (squeezed dry), minced garlic, lemon juice, dill, salt, and pepper.
  2. Stir well to combine.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Craft the Salmon Burgers: In a food processor, pulse the salmon chunks until coarsely ground. Be careful not to over-process; you want some texture.
  5. In a medium bowl, combine the ground salmon, red onion, dill, parsley, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.
  6. Gently mix all the ingredients together until just combined. Avoid overmixing, as this can make the burgers tough.
  7. Divide the salmon mixture into 4 equal portions and form them into patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
  8. Cooking to Perfection: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  9. Carefully place the salmon patties in the hot skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and lightly browned. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  10. Assemble and Devour: Place the cooked salmon burgers on the burger buns.
  11. Top with a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce and any desired toppings, such as lettuce, tomato slices, and red onion slices.
  12. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Salmon Burgers With Tzatziki!

Notes

If the salmon mixture seems too wet, add a tablespoon or two of breadcrumbs or panko to help bind it together. You can prepare the salmon patties ahead of time and freeze them for later. Just wrap them individually in plastic wrap and store them in a freezer bag. Thaw them in the refrigerator before cooking. For grilling, lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking. Grill the salmon burgers over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes per side. Toasting the burger buns adds a nice texture and prevents them from getting soggy. Leftover salmon burgers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. The tzatziki sauce can also be stored separately in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
