Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, toasted
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries or cherries
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary, chopped
  • Crackers, baguette slices, or apple slices, for serving

Equipment

  • Oven
  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper or silicone baking mat
  • small bowl
  • Spoon
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • Small skillet or pan (for toasting nuts)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Place the brie wheel on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the toasted nuts, dried cranberries/cherries, maple syrup/honey, orange zest, balsamic vinegar (or apple cider vinegar), and chopped rosemary. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are coated.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly over the top of the brie wheel. Gently press the toppings into the brie to help them adhere during baking.
  5. Bake for 8-12 minutes, or until the brie is softened and the toppings are fragrant and lightly caramelized. Keep a close eye on it to prevent the brie from melting excessively.
  6. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes before serving. This allows the brie to slightly firm up and prevents it from being too runny.
  7. Serve immediately with crackers, baguette slices, or apple slices.

Notes

For best results, toast the nuts in a dry skillet over medium heat until fragrant and lightly browned, stirring frequently. You can use either maple syrup or honey, depending on your preference. Store leftover baked brie in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in the oven or microwave before serving. Experiment with other toppings such as fig jam, prosciutto, or different types of nuts.
